The Tragedy of Loss of Vision

Proverbs 28:19, “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” (ESV)

The Christian Standard Bible reads, “Without revelation people run wild, but one who follows divine instruction will be happy.”

The Berkley Version says, “the people fall into anarchy.”

Blind and deaf, Helen Keller, was once asked what would be worse than blindness. Her response: "To have sight with no vision."

Futurologists Tom Sine says, “I am even more concerned at how few take seriously the importance of vision. I firmly believe the number one crisis in the church today is a crisis of vision.”

The wise man in Prov. 29:18 declares that where “prophetic vision” is missing, the people fall into anarchy. Here propheticrevelation is simply the Word of God (see 1Samuel 3:1). The thought is that when God’s Word is not known and honored, the people run wild. The ones who obey the law, that is, the Word of God, are the truly blessed ones. The fatal effect of the absence of such revelation of God’s will is stated to be confusion, disorder, and rebellion; the people, uncontrolled, fall into grievous excesses which nothing but the absolutes of the obeyed Word of God can restrain.

The key word in the text is the word “vision. What is vision? The Phillips paraphrase of Colossians 1:9 gives us an excellent working definition. Paul said to the Colossians, “I pray that you will see things from God’s point of view.

Wherever there is no vision, no “seeing life from God’s viewpoint”, the people of the society, of the community, of the home Cast of Restraint.” This is the MORAL effect of a loss of vision. A loss of vision produces moral anarchy, in which every man does what is right in his own eyes.”

This strong Hebrew verb also means To Disintegrate.” This is the SOCIAL effect of a loss of vision. Sin, which increases proportionately in a society with the loss of spiritual vision, has a centrifugal force about it, driving men outward from the True Center of Life, God Himself, and thus driving them from each other. So we have a fragmented, divided world. Society begins to loosen, dissolve, break up, go to pieces.”

In January 1977 Francis Schaeffer wrote with prophetic foresight: “Overwhelming pressures are being brought to bear on people who have no absolutes, but only have the impoverished values of personal peace and prosperity.  The pressures are progressively preparing modern people to accept a manipulative, authoritarian government.”

Schaeffer was convinced that the loss of God’s absolute “prophetic revelation” would produce an America in which personal peace and prosperity would be the two governing principles of life.

Personal peace means just to be let alone, not to be troubled by the troubles of other people, whether across the world or across the city – to live one’s life with minimal possibilities of being personally disturbed. Personal peace means wanting to have my personal life pattern undisturbed in my lifetime, regardless of what the result will be in the lifetimes of my children and grandchildren. Affluence means an overwhelming and increasing prosperity – a life made up of things, things, and more things – a success judged by an ever-higher level of material abundance.”

With such values, will men stand for their liberties? Thus far the answer is no. They will give up their liberties step by step, election by election, law by law, if their own personal peace and prosperity is sustained and not challenged, and if the goods are delivered.

The invitation of humanistic governments is “Let Big Brother be your shepherd. He will lead you beside new waters; he will prepare your table; he will care for you. Come dwell with him, his rod and staff will comfort you.”

Society cannot stand chaos and into the situation some group or persons will step in to fill the vacuum. An elitist political party will offer arbitrary absolutes with womb to tomb provision in some form of socialism.

Today the elitists are known as “globalist.” These globalists have a “vision” for the world. They have a name for their vision - “The Great Reset”, which is well under way.

Living in the “Great Reset” demands that we view tolerance as the greatest of virtues and intolerance as the most grievous of vices, i.e., hate crime. This standard has led to the toleration of evil by Christians in the West in an unprecedented manner. Those who oppose the LGBQT+ efforts to destroy the nuclear family or labeled intolerant homophobes. Those who confront the cultural Marxism and anarchy of the BLM and Antifa radicals, are declared intolerant racists and white supremacists. Opposing and condemning the evil of jihad rape, inbreeding, child marriage, genital mutilation, and the destroying of churches and the killing of Christians by radical Islamists, are intolerant, islamophobes filled with hate.

The Great Reset Is Well-Documented

The Great Reset has been labeled a conspiracy theory and parts of it sound like a conspiracy theory, but everything we know about it comes from the global elites themselves, who have been quite open about it.

"This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a well-documented movement among many of the world's most powerful people," says Justin Haskins, the Editorial Director at The Heartland Institute and a leading authority on the Great Reset, "Fundamentally, this is a radical and complete transformation of everything that we do in our society," Haskins adds, 'It will change the way businesses are evaluated, it will coerce businesses to pursue left-wing causes."

The Great Reset was unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where many of the world's most powerful people go to offer solutions to the world's problems.  They have said that the coronavirus pandemic was a historic opportunity to change the way the world operates.

In a report by CBN News, the news commentator said: “This will be your future if some powerful people at the World Economic Forum get their way: you'll own nothing and "be happy about it. Energy will be green, rationed, and expensive, and travel will be restricted. Your diet will be controlled, and currency will be digital. This left-wing dystopian dream is called the Great Reset, and you're supposed to be excited about it.”

There is a Vision Creator and Corrector Available!

The last part of Proverbs 29:18b, reads: “…but blessed is he who keeps the law.”

John Gill rightly observes: “This is not the moral law, which no man can keep perfectly, but the law of faith. It may be rendered, "happy is he that observes doctrine", the doctrine of the Gospel, where it is preached; that attends to it, values and esteems it, receives it by faith, and with meekness; blessed is he, blessed are his eyes and ears; he sees wondrous things out of this law or doctrine, and he hears and knows the joyful sound, which brings salvation and eternal life unto him!”

In other words, the gospel of the kingdom of God is the only true and miraculous vision creator and vision corrector.

It is clear from Jesus as recorded in the Gospels that the good news of God for the world was that the kingdom of God or Heaven was breaking into history, and it was doing so in and through Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah.

When we read the Gospels, we begin to see that the gospel itself was all about the good news that a new and great king would restore order and blessing and peace to the world of God’s good creation. And Jesus taught that this good news was coming true in himself!

And we know that this good news came true in Jesus because the apostles told us so. By raising Jesus from the dead, God has proven Jesus to be the Messiah, the long-awaited King who has and is and will resolve the ultimate environmental problem – man’s blindness to the glory, greatness, goodness, grace, and government of King Jesus.

“Let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts 2:36).

We must begin to pray passionately and persistently, Lord, open the eyes of our hearts. For we have said we are rich, and have prospered, and have need nothing, not realizing that we are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

Lord, enable us to receive your counsel and to buy from you – with the currency of faith - gold refined by fire, so that we may be rich, and white garments so that we may clothe ourselves and the shame of our nakedness may not be seen. And above all, we cry for the salve of Holy Spirit anointing to be applied to our eyes, so that we may see You – our Lord and God.

Enlighten us to see the whole counsel of the Word of God that exalts You as Supreme, Savior, and Law-giver with man as a law-receiver, not a law creator. Enable us to recover your prophetic revelation – the Word of Truth – and then be boldly and uncompromisingly proclaiming it from every available outlet and opportunity!

It’s either radical Biblical reformation and spiritual renewal, or ruin!

The American Statesman and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Robert Winthrop (1809-1894), stated, “All societies of men must be governed in some way or other. The less they may have of stringent State Government, the more they must have of individual self-government. The less they rely on public law or physical force, the more they must rely on private moral restraint. Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the Word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet.”
